FOLLICEL FOR HEADLICE

Follicel is a natural head lice treatment that uses proprietary polysaccharide technology, developed by Marabo Ltd. of Preston UK.

Market Acceptance Test Of Follicel. (In Brief).
- The market acceptance test was to be for a 12 month period.
- The test area consisted of the UK. Please note that Follicel is distributed in other countries including Holland, Kenya and Southern Ireland, as well as Canada and were not included in this test.
- Units of Follicel consisting of 100mls of product be distributed by the direct sales method from the Marabo facility in Preston.
- A money back guarantee be given and product comments be encouraged.
- Calls or letters regarding unsatisfactory product performance should be noted on a standard form.

Market Acceptance Test Results
- The Market Test ran from 4 January 2000 to 31 December 2000.
- During the test period 22,000 units were sold directly to the target area they also included reorders of the product, which amounted to approximately 30%.

Positive Comments
Positive comments about Follicel were not tabulated because they were not the focus of the test. They were however in the hundreds.

Negative Comments
Of the 22,000 units of Follicel that were shipped, there were 19 unsatisfactory reports returned to Marabo. These reports were followed up with the following results:
- Seventeen of the negative results were traced to the fact that the recipient used a hair conditioning shampoo prior to the Follicel application. Note: Conditioning shampoos have surface coating characteristics and are known to impede the effect of Follicel.
- Two of the twenty reports could not be resolved and the money was refunded.

Conclusion
Follicel received less than one unsatisfactory report per thousand units sold.
The main hindrance to the effectiveness of Follicel was found to be the use of conditioning hair shampoo prior to Follicel application. recommendations are a) that a neutral pH non conditioning shampoo prior to Follicel application and b) where a conditioning shampoo or conditioner has been used in the previous seven days that a deep cleansing shampoo be used prior to treatment.

Considering the results of the market acceptance test, the fact that Follicel is a natural non toxic product made with no regulated substances and that current market products have some serious health concerns, it is recommended that Follicel be released for widespread distribution.
